Today I can officially say that I have had one week of school finished. Yay! It is starting to make more sense. If the teachers use pretty simple sentences I can pick out words and get the gist of what they want. I'm still confused most of the time but it is working out.
My family and I can't find enough to do in our spare time. We spend a lot of time watching TV, which is actually in English with Norwegian subtitles. So watching TV is educational, we learn Norwegian words! We are on the computer a lot too, talking to family, or friends.
It hasn't stopped raining since we got here. It just keeps pouring or drizzling, or threatening to rain. Skylee came home today with her gloves soaking wet. My mom picked them up and tried to squeeze the water out and MUD came out. She had fallen down over and over and over again at recess today and had always landed with her hands in mud puddles.
Tyler keeps walking around the house saying "Neida" "Joda" "Neida" "Joda" (Which is No and Yes, respectively.)
Andrew and Skylee are constantly playing tag and running around the house, much to the dismay of our downstairs neighbors. ;) They are always wound up but it might just be the weather and the fact that we have a mud pit for a backyard. On the days that it will be good weather (and the backyard dries out) they won't want to go out and run around anymore. But that is how they are. :D
The kids at school love talking to me, one girl is learning both English and Norwegian- she only knew Somalian. She knows a lot more Norwegian then English, today she asked me "How you happen?" So I asked her to help me with my Norwegian and I'll help her with her English. But she just laughed and asked someone to translate for her that she will help me, and the first thing she taught me was "Du spise for mye!" Which means I eat to much, of course she didn't eat at all today and I had a sandwich.
So I think that is all I want to say....Oh Wait! I found an English section in the library and so I got Eclipse in Norwegian and English and am now reading it sentence by sentence. I will work my way through the whole book eventually.
There I think that is enough. I hope it was more detailed for a certain person. I really tried to make it more interesting and add some more thought to it. :)
Sounds like you are doing good. You will have Norwegian down in no time! If it make you feel better it has rained most of the day here today. I waitin for the sunshine.
ReplyDeleteIt was shining here for awhile. Then it started to SNOW.
